Christy Uba, the National Youth Service Corps’ director of information and communications technology, has been promoted to acting director-general.
She could go down in history as the first woman to lead the NYSC since it was founded approximately 50 years ago.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the appointment came after president Muhammadu Buhari fired Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah as DG (retd.)
The statement was titled, ‘Mrs Uba to oversee NYSC pending the appointment of substantive Director General.’
“The most senior director in the scheme has taken over the leadership of the corps in the capacity of overseer, pending the appointment of a substantive Director General by Mr. President”, Megwa said.
