A Federal High Court in Abuja have sacked 20 lawmakers of the Cross River State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after winning election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Salemgists learnt that the lawmakers had dumped the PDP shortly after Governor Ben Ayade defected to the APC last year.
The governor had said he joined the ruling party to support President Muhammadu Buhari to build a greater nation.
Delivering judgement in a suit filed by the PDP, Justice Taiwo Taiwo held that the lawmakers should vacate their seats because they abandoned the party that sponsored them to power.
This is coming after Ebonyi state Governor Dave Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, were fired by a Federal High Court in Abuja for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
