Heavy Security Spotted As NANS Holds A Peaceful Protest At Lagos Airport (Video)

There is currently a heavy police presence at Lagos airport as members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, protest over the lingering strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff of Union of Universities, ASUU.

The students gathered around the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to protest against the prolonged strike action by the union.

Salemgists reported earlier that the strike has drawn the ire of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), who pledged to take additional actions.

The students were seen dancing around as they sang solidarity songs.

The South-West Coordinator of NANS, Adegboye Olatunji, said security agencies had been mobilised to the scene, but they were undaunted.

The group declared that it will ground its activities and take its protest to the nation’s international airports.

The Chairman of the NANS National Task Force on “End ASUU Strike Now,” Ojo Olumide, stated that students were already weary of arguing with both parties about the necessity of ending the strike in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

He claimed that the four-day closure of congested highways and expressways had been successful; as a result, a decision had also been made to halt international travels beginning on September 19, 2022, so that “the bourgeois and the government can feel the pain that they had subjected students to in the past seven months.”
