PDP In Crisis: Wike’s Camp Pulls Out Of Atiku’s Campaign Council, Insists “Ayu Must Go”

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who are sympathetic to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, resolved not to participate in the activities of the party’s National Campaign Council.

The members made the resolution in the early hours of Wednesday until the National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu steps down from his position.

They are adamant that Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national campaign chairman for Atiku Abubakar, must resign in order to make room for an acting national chairman of Southern Nigerian descent to take over.

According to them, Ayu’s resignation is required in order to maintain fairness, justice, and party cohesion amongst all party members.

These PDP members demand that “Ayu must go” despite the recent meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee giving the Ayu-led National Working Committee a vote of confidence.

They are also charging Iyorchia Ayu with compromise, particularly for the part he played in the party’s presidential primary on May 28 and 29 in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

The PDP members are also keen on pointing out that their support for Governor Wike is not due to the fact that he did not win the party’s nomination for vice president or because he did not win the presidential primary, but rather to their commitment to fairness and justice within the PDP.
