Job Akinola, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) died after being hit by a stray bullet during gubernatorial primary election in Atakunmosa West local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday, February 19.
It was gathered that the deceased was among party members at the Ward 6 polling unit for the exercise.
He was killed at about 12 noon, when a Toyota Hilux, loaded with suspected hoodlums, stormed the venue of the polls and started shooting sporadically.
An eyewitnesses account revealed that as gunshots were fired, the victim was hit by stray bullet and he died on the spot.
Personnel of the Nigeria Police, who engaged the hoodlums, shot at the tyres of the vehicle. The hoodlums abandoned it and escaped on foot.
The corpse of the victim, it was learnt, was taken by the police and conveyed to an unknown hospital.
The Toyota Hilux was later taken to the Police Area Command, Ayeso, Ilesa.
