No fewer than Eight people were electrocuted this morning, February 24 in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
It was gathered that the sad incident occurred in Rice mill, in Wadata, Makurdi local government area of Benue state.
A source at the scene of the incident said it was as a result of alleged negligence by Jos Electrical Distribution Company (JEDC), Benue distribution center.
According to the source, the transformer supplying light to the community sparked at early hour of this morning which led to the electrocution.
He said that last week Monday, the transformer killed one and only surviving son of a certain parent in the community.
Despite the incident, JEDC failed to address the challenge leading to the death of eight this morning.
The power transmission authority should as a matter of urgency address the issue with all alacrity to forestall further destruction of lives and properties, the eyewitness added.
