Police tactical teams and vigilante members neutralize scores of bandits today, February 25 in Niger state.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun stated that the operation was necessary after information was received that armed bandits/terrorists attacked Sahon-Rami village, Mashegu LGA and killed three persons.
“However, Police tactical teams and vigilante members were immediately mobilized to the area, and while the bandits were on their way trying to escape, they were engaged in a fierce gun battle by the tactical teams.
Consequently, scores of the bandits were neutralised and others escaped with gunshot injuries into the forest, while two among the bandits corpses were left behind due to the firing power of the tactical teams and were subsequently recovered.
However, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi commended the galantry performance of the tactical teams and vigilante members. He also urged them to sustain the tempo as the Command will not rest on it’s oars until the State is rid of banditry and other criminality in our various communities.
He further calls on members of the public to continue to support and cooperate with the Police and other security agencies by giving accurate and useful intelligence on the activities of these hoodlums towards eradicating banditry activities in the State.”
