Police Officer Commits Suicide After He Allegedly Shot And Killed His Estranged Wife In Zambia

Albert Kamasumba, a 29-year-old policeman from Zambia, shot and murdered himself after killing his estranged wife, Deborah Kasakula.

It was learned that the incident took place in Pamodzi Township, Ndola, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at about 5 o’clock.

Local media reports that the police officer fatally shot his wife after learning that she was getting married to someone else.

Deborah allegedly left him because she had grown weary of his abuse, according to another version of the story.

Deborah had returned to her parents’ home in Ndola’s Kawama Township after the pair had lived apart for a while in the Chifubu Police Camp.

He went on the rampage and shot her and another family member who was supposedly her sister after finding out that she intended to marry another man in Kitwe.

“It is alleged that after knocking off from work today, the officer went to his wife’s house in Kawama and shoot her and her sister then later her ran to Pamodzi Community Police Post where he shot himself outside,” one officer said.

After returning from an operation and being transferred from the Kawama Police Post, the officer traveled directly to Kawama Township where he shot the wife.

He killed her and then went to the Pamodzi Community Police Post to speak briefly with the unaware cops.

Then he handed an officer his phone and requested him to give it to someone who would come looking for him.

Without his fellow cops’ knowledge, the officer went outside, and the next thing they heard was a gunshot.

When police arrived on the scene, they saw him lying in a pool of blood close to a water faucet.

Sheona Kamwendo, the public relations representative for Ndola Teaching Hospital, stated that two deceased bodies, a male and a female, named as Albert Kamasumba and Deborah Kasakula, had been brought to the facility.
