Eight people were killed and other persons were injured when armed men believed to be Fulani herders attacked the Wumat community in Plateau State’s Kwatas ward and Bokkos Local Government Area.
According to Adamu Isa, a resident of Bokkos town, the gunmen stormed the village on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, around 10 p.m., and began shooting randomly to frighten the inhabitants. They eventually killed eight people, he added.
“The number of deaths may be more than eight as some of the victims have been rushed to the hospital,” he said.
Police have sent men to cordon off the area, according to DSP Alubo Alfred, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, who confirmed the incident.
The most recent attack occurred seven days after gunmen attacked the Maikatako village in the local government region and killed 11 people, including nine family members, and injured several others.
